Clemmons Milling Company sits on Hampton Road 1/8 mile south of US 158 in the village of Clemmons, just west of Winston-Salem.   One of the oldest structures in Clemmons, the mill was built in 1920 by L.C. Hobson of Yadkin County for farmers that needed a place to grind their corn and mix their feeds.  J.E. Brewer purchased the mill later that year and his family operated the mill until 1988.  The mill grew to become a full fledged farm supply source distributing Clemmons Mill branded “Supreme” feeds throughout North Carolina.

The original facility covered 4200 square feet with various additions made over the years.  In 1944, the mixing room was added to the north end and the basement beneath was dug by German prisoners of war.  The mill retains its charm of days gone by with the structure looking much as it did when originally built.  Homeowners now visit Clemmons Mill looking for gardening advice and asking questions relative to managing weeds in the flower garden, or which bird seed is best for attracting songbirds. Clemmons Mill offers a variety of fertilizer, seed, and pesticides for your lawn or pasture.  Many of the local equestrians shop at Clemmons Mill for tack, horse feed, animal health and other equine supplies.

Along with livestock feeds, supplies for man's best friend can be found at Clemmons Mill. Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's or Cat Lover's Soul is available as well as Southern States branded dog and cat food.  There's also a nice selection of dog collars and leads for your family pet.

Hanging on the wall at Clemmons Mill you'll find a variety of hand tools, shovels, rakes, axes, hoes and more.  If you’re looking for hardware for the home or barn, Clemmons Mill keeps an assortment of nuts and bolts, along with chain and rope for most any job around the home or farm.

Please stop by and visit Clemmons Mill.  In many ways, it's like stepping back in time.  If the walls and floors could talk, they would surely tell stories of old including the horse drawn wagons bringing forth harvests for grinding and mixing.  Family generations have walked the wooden floors over the years making Clemmons Mill a part of history in ways beyond measure.  A very interesting part of the mill is the Detecto Scales used for years to weigh bins of corn and grains.  The scales still have many uses as some customers bring their pets in to weigh while others have even been known to stop by and weigh their luggage before heading to the airport!  Clemmons Mill, still serving the community needs in a variety of ways.

The mill no longer produces feed as regulation and economies of scale now favor large feed mills which buy commodities by the train load rather than from the back of a wagon or pickup truck.  Clemmons Mill is now an independent dealer for Southern States and a partner of LTD Farm and Garden in King, NC
